  • In a bowl, combine 2 tbsp ginger, 2 tbsp garlic, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tbsp almond paste, 1 tsp dried chilli, 1/2 cup mustard oil, 1 tsp salt, and the beef (500g). Mix well and marinate overnight or for at least 2-3 hours.
  • Heat 2 tbsp soybean oil in a pan. Add 1.5 cups sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Add the marinated beef and cook for about 10 minutes. Cover and simmer for another 20 minutes.
  • Add 1 cup boiled potatoes and mix well. Cover and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • In a separate pan, heat 1/2 cup mustard oil.
  • Add 1/2 cup sliced onions and sauté for 1 minute.
  • Then, add 4 cups of water. Once the water starts boiling, add the soaked rice (2 cups) and cook for 10 minutes over low heat.
  • After 10 minutes, layer the rice with the cooked beef mixture. Cover and let it cook on low heat for another 10 minutes.
  • Garnish with fried onions (beresta), 2 tbsp raisins, and serve hot.
