Whole spice blend/Pach Foron with Potato

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes cut up in small pieces
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 3 green chilis cut in half
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp whole spice blend/pach foron fenugreek seed, nigella seed, cumin seed, black mustard seed and fennel seed in equal parts
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup cilantro chopped for garnish
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • in a non sticky pan, heat up oil and sauté onions, whole spice blend/pach foron along with the green chilis on medium high
  • when onions are fried brown, add turmeric powder and sauté for another 5 minutes
  • add the potatoes and stir in high heat for 5 minutes
  • add water and close lid and put heat to medium low and cook for 20 minutes
  • check if the potatoes are cooked. Add a little bit more water and close lid and cook for another 10 minutes if you want your potatoes a little softer
  • garnish with cilantro
