Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes cut up in small pieces
- 1 cup diced onions
- 3 green chilis cut in half
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 tbsp whole spice blend/pach foron fenugreek seed, nigella seed, cumin seed, black mustard seed and fennel seed in equal parts
- 1 tbsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp salt to taste
- 1/2 cup cilantro chopped for garnish
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- in a non sticky pan, heat up oil and sauté onions, whole spice blend/pach foron along with the green chilis on medium high
- when onions are fried brown, add turmeric powder and sauté for another 5 minutes
- add the potatoes and stir in high heat for 5 minutes
- add water and close lid and put heat to medium low and cook for 20 minutes
- check if the potatoes are cooked. Add a little bit more water and close lid and cook for another 10 minutes if you want your potatoes a little softer
- garnish with cilantro
