  • First wash the fish thoroughly and drain the excess water. In a bowl take the fish pieces,turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and mix them altogether. Marinate it for 30 minutes.
  • Fry the onions into beresta and then fry the red and green chillies.
  • In a pan or karahi heat the mustard oil and then shallow fry the marinated fish till they turn golden brown.
  • Put the fried onions (beresta) and fried chilis on the fried fish.
  • Fish fry is ready. Serve it with the usual meal as a side dish.

Serve the fish

  • Garnish the fried fish, if preferred, with coarse salt and serve with tartar sauce or malt vinegar.

How to Fry the Fish Perfectly

Fry the fish in the heated oil, two or three pieces at a time, until the coating is golden and the fish begins to flake when checked with a fork, flipping once. Each batch takes around 3 to 4 minutes. Drain the deep-fried fish on kitchen towels, turning the fish over to drain on both sides. Transfer the fish to a baking sheet and keep the heat in the oven while you cook the rest of the fish.
