Creamy Chira, a delightful blend of chira (flattened rice), fresh fruits, nuts, and vanilla ice cream, makes for a perfect iftar dessert. This recipe not only satiates your sweet cravings but also offers a plethora of nutritional benefits, making it an ideal choice to break your fast with a healthy and energizing treat.

Chira, the base ingredient, is rich in carbohydrates, providing a quick and sustained energy boost, essential after a long day of fasting. A 2-cup serving of chira offers around 360-400 calories and is also a good source of dietary fiber, promoting digestive health and ensuring you feel full and satisfied. The fiber content helps in regulating blood sugar levels, which is particularly beneficial after fasting, as it prevents sudden spikes and crashes in energy levels.

Strawberries are low in calories but high in vitamins and antioxidants. With about 32 calories per 100 grams, they are packed with vitamin C, which is crucial for boosting the immune system and aiding in skin health. The antioxidants present in strawberries help combat oxidative stress, which can be heightened during fasting periods due to changes in eating patterns and potential nutrient deficiencies.

Dried dates are a traditional iftar food and for good reason. They are naturally sweet, making them a healthier alternative to refined sugars. Dates are rich in dietary fiber, which aids digestion and helps maintain a healthy gut. They also provide essential vitamins and minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, and vitamin B6, all of which play significant roles in muscle function, hydration, and energy metabolism. A few pieces of dried dates contribute to the overall sweetness of the dessert while offering nutritional benefits.

Apples add a crunchy texture and a dose of essential nutrients. Low in calories, with about 52 calories per 100 grams, apples are high in dietary fiber, particularly pectin, which supports digestive health and helps in feeling full longer. They are also a good source of vitamins C and A, and provide small amounts of potassium, contributing to overall health and well-being.

Nuts bring in healthy fats, proteins, and a variety of vitamins and minerals. They contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are beneficial for heart health. The protein content in nuts helps in muscle repair and growth, which is important for maintaining muscle mass, especially during periods of fasting. Nuts like almonds, walnuts, and pistachios are rich in vitamin E, magnesium, and antioxidants, adding a nutritional punch to this dessert.

Vanilla ice cream adds creaminess and richness to the dish, making it more indulgent. While it does add calories and fat, it also provides calcium, which is essential for bone health. A small amount of ice cream enhances the overall texture and flavor, making the dessert more appealing without significantly compromising its health benefits.

The inclusion of a natural sweetener like honey, or a small amount of sugar, adds the necessary sweetness without excessive calories. Honey, in particular, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a healthier choice than refined sugar.

Combining these ingredients not only creates a delicious and refreshing dessert but also ensures a balanced intake of essential nutrients. Creamy Chira provides the right mix of carbohydrates, proteins, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, making it a well-rounded dish to break your fast. This nutritious and energizing dessert supports your body’s recovery and replenishment after a day of fasting, ensuring you feel rejuvenated and ready for the evening prayers and activities. Garnishing with leftover strawberries and nuts adds a final touch of flavor and visual appeal, making it as delightful to the eyes as it is to the palate.
