Ingredients
- 2 cups pran chinigura rice
- 500 grm beef
- 2 tbsp soybean oil
- 1/2 cup mustard oil
- 1.5 cups onion
- 2 tbsp ginger
- 2 tbsp garlic
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried chili
- 1 tsp tehari masala powder mix of nutmeg, mace, cardamom and cinnamom sticks
- 2 each cardamom cinnamon, bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1 tbsp almond paste
- 2 tbsp raisins
- 1/2 cup beresta fried onion
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine 2 tbsp ginger, 2 tbsp garlic, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tbsp almond paste, 1 tsp dried chilli, 1/2 cup mustard oil, 1 tsp salt, and the beef (500g). Mix well and marinate overnight or for at least 2-3 hours.
- Heat 2 tbsp soybean oil in a pan. Add 1.5 cups sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the marinated beef and cook for about 10 minutes. Cover and simmer for another 20 minutes.
- Add 1 cup boiled potatoes and mix well. Cover and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- In a separate pan, heat 1/2 cup mustard oil.
- Add 1/2 cup sliced onions and sauté for 1 minute.
- Then, add 4 cups of water. Once the water starts boiling, add the soaked rice (2 cups) and cook for 10 minutes over low heat.
- After 10 minutes, layer the rice with the cooked beef mixture. Cover and let it cook on low heat for another 10 minutes.
- Garnish with fried onions (beresta), 2 tbsp raisins, and serve hot.
