Besides studying as a girl, I also learned cooking from my mother. Making yourself cook like this. Chicken Akhni recipe is Mom’s special but now I can cook it better than Mom Alhamdulillah.
Ingredients
- 500 gm Rice
- 500 gm chicken cut into pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/2 tsp shahi jeera
- 1 cup onion thinly sliced
- 6 pcs green chili slice
- 2 pcs bay leaf
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 2 pcs cardamom pods
- 2 pcs cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- salt to taste
- 1/2 cup ghee or cooking oil
- 1/2 tsp kewra water
- egg for decoration
Instructions
- In a large pan, combine the chicken, rice, yogurt, onions, garlic paste, ginger paste, bay leaves, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, shahi jeera, garam masala powder, salt, oil/ghee, and enough water to cover the ingredients.
- Cover the pan with a lid and place it in a preheated oven at a low temperature.
- Allow the chicken and rice to cook for 40 minutes without opening the lid. This will ensure that the flavors are infused and the chicken and rice are cooked through.
- After 40 minutes, remove the pan from the oven and keep it warm.
- Drizzle kewra water over the Decorate with boiled eggs.
- Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Yakhni!
