Badam Doodh Thandai isn’t just a drink- it’s a cherished family tradition that my grandmother swore by for iftar. She always said a glass of thandai after a long day of fasting was the perfect way to replenish energy and soothe the stomach. This rich, milk-based delight is packed with almonds and aromatic spices like saffron, cardamom, and fennel that boost immunity and aid digestion.

In our house, we also make a lighter alternative which is known as Badam Shorbot—which is refreshingly subtle, perfect for a quick cool-down. The key difference? Thandai’s base is spiced more indulgent taste, while shorbot keeps things light and hydrating. We will share the shorbot recipe later, for now find the Thandai recipe in the comments!

From This to This: The Magic of Spices! ✨☕

A tiny cardamom pod can transform the simplest ingredients. Crush it, drop it in, and watch your tea turn rich, fragrant, and unforgettable.

That’s the beauty of spices- they make everything better. A regular milk tea? Good. A cardamom-infused cha? Pure comfort in a cup.

What’s your go-to spice for tea? ☕

Aam er Laundho Recipe The recipe (or recipes I should say) being presented today are a bit special. How we usually approach Moni Dadi's recipes is that Ms. Shortcut Sokhina is the one who prepares the food, and I am the one who assists and does the tasting. And on occasions, I am the one preparing the food if I believe it to be an easy one to cook....

When it rained or got too cold, khichuri was always there—warm, comforting, and familiar. Now, as the snow falls outside, I find myself missing home. The closest I can get? Cooking that same taste. Here’s my beef bhuna khichuri, a bowl of warmth for this cold weather. Try it, and let home find you too. Recipe in the comments!

Back home, winter meant the freshest harvest—sweet potatoes, pumpkins, carrots, and cabbages, all tossed with Panch Phoron for a simple yet soulful Sheet Er Shobji. No fancy ingredients, no extra effort—just love, nostalgia, and the taste of home with a dollop of ghee! Find the recipe in the comments below

Chaap Recipe Moni Dadi’s original recipe instructed the use of beef or mutton for this dish, but I decided to use chicken instead. Because in the streets of Bangladesh only the smell of beef or chicken chaap will tickle your nose; no mutton chaap will ever touch your sense of smell let alone be served in front of you. And because I belong to a Hindu household, I cannot cook beef in my home....
