- 1 Banana Flower
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 tbsp cumin Seeds
- 1 medium-sized onion finely chopped
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 2 cardamom pods
- 1 cinnamon stick small
- 4 cloves
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 2 green chilies slit lengthwise
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
Remove the outer layers of the Banana Flower until you reach the tender part. Take out the stem from each layer and discard it.
Wash the Banana Flower and chop it into small pieces.
Boil the chopped Banana Flower in water for about 10 minutes or until it becomes tender. Drain and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onion, bay leaf, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, and cloves to the pan. Sauté until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
Stir in garlic paste and ginger paste. Cook for a few minutes until the raw smell disappears.
Add a little water to the pan, followed by red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Mix well and cook for a few minutes to allow the spices to blend.
Add the boiled Banana Flower to the pan and mix it with the spices. Cook until the Banana Flower becomes soft and the oil starts to separate.
Finally, add slit green chillies and garam masala powder. Sauté for a few more minutes to enhance the flavors.
Remove from heat and serve the Banana Flower Stir Fry with rice. Enjoy its delicious taste!
